Age recommendation

Recommended for Ages 12+

Real programming tools. Responsible development. A workspace designed for learning, experimenting, and building.

A recommendation, not a restriction. Vesper’s 12+ guidance reflects the responsibility that comes with development tools and optional third-party services. It is not an official store age rating or certification.

Why we recommend 12+

Powerful tools deserve thoughtful use.

Vesper is a genuine software-development environment. Its core is approachable, while its more advanced capabilities call for technical understanding and digital responsibility.

π

Python development

Write and execute Python, experiment in an interactive REPL, create files, and explore the standard library. Code and project changes can have real consequences, so unfamiliar code should be understood before it runs.

Optional AI assistance

Connect OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, or a compatible provider with your own API key. External AI can make mistakes, may produce unexpected content, and may charge for usage. Review every result before using it.

Git & repositories

Create and switch branches, commit work, and push changes to remote repositories. These are real collaboration tools, and users should understand a change before sharing it with a remote project.

•••

API keys & credentials

Advanced integrations can require API keys or Git authentication. Credentials are sensitive, should be protected carefully, and should never be pasted into code, shared publicly, or sent to another person.

Great for learning Python

New to Python? You’re welcome here.

Vesper is designed for beginners, students, hobbyists, and experienced developers alike. The 12+ recommendation reflects the responsibility that comes with AI services, API credentials, and remote Git repositories—not the difficulty of learning Python.

  • Experiment in the interactive Python REPL
  • Write and run a first program
  • Learn through hands-on exploration
  • Explore Python’s standard library
  • Read code more easily with syntax highlighting
  • Use optional AI to explain concepts and code
For parents & guardians

Start with Python. Add connections when ready.

Vesper does not require AI or Git functionality to write and run Python code. Younger developers can use the core editor and interactive terminal without configuring optional third-party integrations.

Parents or guardians may wish to supervise the creation and use of third-party accounts, API keys, AI services, and remote repositories. Each connected service has its own policies, terms, pricing, and age requirements.

Third-party services

Optional and independently operated.

Vesper may connect to AI providers and Git hosting services selected and configured by the user. AI functionality and remote Git functionality are optional; core Python editing and execution remain available without either.

  • Connected services use their own terms and privacy policies.
  • They may set minimum ages, account rules, or usage charges.
  • Vesper’s 12+ recommendation does not override those requirements.
  • Users are responsible for following the rules of services they connect.
Safety & good habits

Code responsibly.

Programming is powerful. Take a moment to understand code from AI systems, repositories, websites, or other people before you execute or share it.

  • Review unfamiliar code before running it
  • Never expose passwords, API keys, or tokens
  • Understand changes before pushing them
  • Verify AI-generated code instead of assuming it is correct
  • Follow the terms of connected services
